Data Loads - PI Valuation

The personal injury valuation upload feature allows you to bulk upload your personal injury valuation details. Personal injury valuation is used in legal matters to determine the potential payout value for a particular injury.

Getting Ready for a Data Load

If it is the first time you have done a data load in your environment then you will need to ensure that the data load features are switched on.

Go to Admin > Global Features > Data Loads - CSV and Excel and ensure the enabled flag is checked

Preparing Your Spreadsheet

You are able to load your data in from an excel sheet. Part of the data load process will enable you to map columns from your injury provider guidance into the system. The data can be stored on separate sheets within excel but each sheet will need to be run as a separate data load.

You will need to create named areas in your spreadsheet for each set of data you wish to use.

Data Example
Category Type, Sub Type, Severity
Name Central nervous system, Quadriplegia
Hierarchy

/0/, /0/0/, /0/1/ - these indicate the number at which each item should be displayed on different levels. 0 is always the first item in the list.

e.g.

Central Nervous System /0/ (indicates first in top level list)

Quadriplegia /0/0/ (indicates the first item in the sub list for the first item in the top level

Paraplegia /0/1/ (indicates the second item in the sub list for the first item in the top level)

InjuryZoneSelector

Indicates the zone in which the injury appear in the person silhouette. Other will be displayed underneath

zone-other,zone-face, zone-arms, zone-torso etc

LowerRange Is the lower compensation range for the injury
UpperRange Is the upper compensation range for the injury
IsActive Yes for active
ValuationProvider This is the system name of the valuation provider you wish to upload to. You can create your validation providers through the user interface and use striping rules to determine which one applies to which work types. See section below on setting up an injury valuation provider
Guidance Provides the guidance for use on the injury
Message Provides a message associated with the injury
Delete
Ensure that your names ranges are not referring to 'Tables' in the range that is defined. The range should look something like Sheet1!$A$1:$B$10 and not Table13(#All)

Creating an Injury Provider

Before loading data into an injury valuation provider you will need to create the provider in Sharedo. The injury validation provider is a container into which the details of injuries and values can be placed. A different provider can be created for each year and can be striped using matching rules to appear on the relative work type based on things like the type of work or the incident date.

To create an Injury provider take the following steps.

  1. Go to Launchpad > Admin > Global Features
  2. Select the 'Injury Provider' global feature
  3. Ensure this feature is set to enabled
  4. Click on the cog button to open the feature configuration
  5. Click on the + button at the top of the screen to add a new provider
  6. Enter a unique system name and a meaningful name
  7. Ensure the provider is set to enabled
  8. If required add a matching rule to determine when the provider should be used.
  9. Click Save and Close

Loading Injury Provider Data

Once you have set up your excel sheet and your injury provider you are ready to load your data.

  1. Go to Launchpad > Admin > Data Loads
  2. Select Active Runs
  3. You will now be able to see all active data load runs.
  4. Select the add new data table upload button at the top right hand side of the screen.
  5. Select the PI Injury Valuation template
  6. Press save.
  7. The screen will now display a document upload area where you can upload your document to. Drag and drop your document to load it.
  8. You will then be asked to specify which named range in your spreadsheet you wish to upload.
  9. Indicate whether your column headers are horizontal (usual) or vertical
  10. Then click load
  11. The system will take an initial load of the sheet so that you are able to map the data into sharedo. Note at this point nothing is actually loaded into the system.
  12. Use the mapping screen to help you link the data in your spreadsheet to the sharedo data.
  13. Once complete click verify
  14. The system will report any errors.
  15. If there are errors correct them in the spread sheet and then create a new data load
  16. If there are no errors then load the data.
