Link a Work Type to an Instruction

ShareDo allows you to link work types. Instructions can have a special relationship with another work type. This is useful when an instruction work type is being used to initiate a case/matter, and that instruction/case/matter is combined with a contract/statement of work. Linking a new work type to an instruction is a simple process, but it must be done correctly to allow the instruction and work type to be linked in a service portfolio.

Work items can be created as 'top level' items or 'derived type'. A derived type will inherit key features from its parent, giving a 'quick start' on creating your work type.

  1. Select LaunchpadModellerWork Type modeller
  2. Select the work type you wish to link to the instruction

If you have a large number of work types you can use the search box at the top of the screen to filter the work types.

  3. Click open to open the work type
  4. Select the type relationships tab. This will show a list of the relationships your work type has with other work type
  5. Click on the Link Parent option at the top of the screen
    .
  6. The work type relationship screen will be displayed.
  7. Set the parent type to your instruction work type
  8. The child type should be automatically set to your work type
  9. Set the relationship type to Linked Case
  10. Set Can have many children and Can have many parents On
  11. Click Save

Review

You have now successfully created a work type relationship. To test this ensure that you refresh your modeller cache and then you can try out your link in a service portfolio entry to ensure the link has been configured correctly.
