You can configure whether a role participant is mandatory or recommended in Modeller.

1. Open Launchpad > Open Modeller > Participant Roles.
2. Select the participant you wish to configure as mandatory, recommended, or optional, and click 'Edit Role' in the Action burger menu.
3. Click the Sharedo Ownership nav bar to edit ownership. Click the burger menu for the work type to configure the requirement level, and click Edit.
   
4. Select the Requirement Level drop-down and select your requirement level.
