Recording a fee actual can post unbilled revenue to the chart of accounts. This global feature decides whether it does, through Record Unbilled Fees in Chart of Accounts, and which account it lands in.
This global feature depends on the Access Chart of Accounts Global Feature, so the accounts and their segments are configured first.
| Default Unbilled Revenue Account Code | The account that unbilled revenue is held in, used for every fee type that does not have an override. Empty until set. A segment code picker presents one selection per enabled Chart of Accounts segment, and every one has to be completed or the feature reports as invalid. |
| Fee Type Overrides | Optional. One row is available per fee structure handler, so a firm can treat each fee type differently. No rows exist until one is added. This is how a firm gets separate accounts for unbilled hourly fees and unbilled fixed fees. There is no pair of top-level settings for it: the split is made by overriding the fee types that should go somewhere other than the default. |
| Record Unbilled Fees in Chart of Accounts | Whether that fee type posts unbilled revenue at all. Turning it off is how a fee type is excluded from unbilled revenue entirely, rather than pointed at a different account. |
| Unbilled Revenue Account Code | The account that fee type's unbilled revenue posts to instead of the default. Every enabled segment has to be completed, the same as the default path, but only where the row is active and recording unbilled fees. |
